A gorgeous vintage 14k gold filled flower brooch (that is detachable!) with a faux moonstone cabachon centre and lovely detailed veined petals, is paired with soft golden yellow lemon quartz and chunky green-blue aquamarine nuggets.

Interspersed with 14k gold plated stardust balls, and ends with a 24k gold vermeil (24k gold over 97% pure silver) toggle clasp.

Eighteen Fifty is now available at Millenia Walk! Thanks to the lovely owner, Kelly, we're now stocking our exclusive luxury jewelry there. We're super excited, as it opens another window of opportunity for us.

You know how we love our gems, and in the last two years, Ade and I have amassed a *disgusting* amount of high quality gemstones which have now found their way lovingly wire wrapped and paired with gold filled and sterling silver findings to give you jewelry that will last you a life time.

In other news, we want to thank all the lovely ladies (and some men) who stopped by our table at Fash Bash. I hope you love your new pieces as much as we enjoyed crafting them for you. We hope you had a smashing Christmas and New Year! I know we certainly did, long weekends plus excess amounts of bubbly work wonders ;) So it's time to leave 2008 behind and move forward, and what better way to start for 1850 than to have newly designed jewellery tags by yours truly! We'll be phasing out our little white cat on black (actually we're almost out of them!) and replacing it with this fancy little birds printed black on silvery white paper this month.

When I first laid eyes on this fantastically beautiful vintage glass stone, my heart stopped for a second. It reminded me of this gorgeous vintage ring I dug up in a garage sale at the age of 12 in the US. This one is more breathtaking. With swirls of golden brown, mocha and honey, each rare, hard- to- find stone is different. The stone measures about 26mm in length. (The back of the setting is open, allowing light to pass through. Truly beautiful!)

Set in a weighty vintage brass setting, and strung on different types of 14k gold plated chains. It looks like a modern take on a jewel you might find in your grandma's jewelry chest. Ends with a single chocolate brown swarovski crystal at the clasp. Perfectly matched with a vintage gold leaf.

I'm not sure when the dark-silverish gold-tone scroll-like brooch was made, but I think it is quite old judging from the pin (removed) and the style.

Large, luxuriously creamly golden vintage Japan- made lucite pearls from the 60s glow and shine. These beautiful rare pearls compliment the gorgeous painted vintage flowers brooch like a dream. This brooch has been in storage for awhile now, and it is fantastic! Painted to emulate real flowers, each is different, with hints of yellow and grey on each petal. Together with detailed green leaves and sparkly yellow rhinestone centres. Holds together with a fancy 14k gold plated toggle.

Christmas is our ultimate favourite time of the year! And it's just around the corner! :) What do we love about it? It's not just the presents and the shopping, but the feeling of nostalgia, gratefulness and peace that comes about towards the end of the year.

There is much to be thankful for in 2008. For me, the huge blessing of my little boy, the moments I get to spend with him watching him grow, the smiles and laughter I can share with him. I'm also grateful for family, my hubs who has been helping me play with Elisha after a long day at work, our new (old) car to ferry us around, and my parents and sisters, who care and love me. (in the silent strong Chinese way. Hehe) What are you thankful for this year?

And in that spirit of joy that accompanies the anticipation of the new year, Adeline and I are busying ourselves at the work table, coming up with pieces we love ourselves. I think it will show. Watch out for lots of uploads leading up to Christmas. If you like anything, remember that what we make are exclusive one-off pieces. The coolest, most talked about fashion showcase bazaar is back on October 1st, at the Singapore Art Museum and Eighteen Fifty will once again be part of this fantastic event!

We apologize profusely for the delay in setting up our website. Things have been just crazy around here. My baby has been in and out of hospital the past two months because of bronchiolitis, and without a helper, much of my time has gone to caring for him. Any spare time is spent, well... catching up on precious 'me' time. I have still been churning out new pieces though- watch out for their debuts on Oct 1st!

Ade just started her new job, and quite likes it cos it's something that interests her, plus, no need to fuss about what to wear to work! Scrubs are the way to go. :)

I just had to update 1850 after making this pair of earrings. Don't these look luscious? :D The gorgeous bit are the vintage Czech glass jewels which glow when the light passes through the back. Accenting them are vintage enamel flowers and fresh water pearls. Gold fill hooks used to finish them off.

How's everyone doing? :) Apologies for the lack of updates, things have been so incredibly busy for us. But we hope to come back soon with more pretty baubles for you!

My babe turned 2 months old yesterday! Night and day are the same for him, so it's usual for our bedtimes to be anywhere from 2-4am. Gah. He is a lovely boy, with big smiles that melt our hearts!

So we're a little late, but... Happy 2008! We hope you had a fabulous time at Christmas and New Year's with lots of bubbly and good company, we definitely did (hence the lack of updates, oops). 2007 was a fantastic year for us at Eighteen Fifty, from meeting you, you and you, making new friends, opportunities to stock at lovely shops, the big name change from baileysvodka and many more... From Jo and myself, we are very very thankful for your support and hope you'll continue with us in our journey. Suggestions and feedback are always welcome :)

Fash Bash-ed! (prepare for long post ahead)

Time to hang up our tired feet and did Ade do that quick! She sailed off to Bintan yesterday for a much-deserved holiday. Me... I'm just gonna laze at home and recuperate from the madness that was Fash Bash! :)

We had a blast, it was SO much fun meeting all of you, and seeing you guys go home happy with your purchases. We cannot say thank you enough for your support of our work, it means so much to us- Thank you.

After few hours, we were able to get Ade's friend (that's her at the top right pic) to finally snap a pic of us clowning about. Baby was probably quite amused by all the noise and bustle around us, but I sure hope he doesn't club too much when he grows up! haha!!

To those we said we'd get back to, we promise we will! Ade has the mailing list plus your addresses, and will be back tomorrow- we will email you guys soon! :)

Hello! We're still very much alive, though still lacking new updates (many apologies for it). I'm still up to my neck with tests&projects&whatnot and the dreaded exams are just around the corner (I foresee sleepless nights). BUT, I couldn't help sharing the gorgeous vintage pieces we have been stockpiling to turn into beautiful exclusive pieces. And with Fash Bash and Christmas coming up, there's no better time than for them to adorn you. That's right, we will be at Fash Bash again! This time it's a one day affair on the 24th of November at St. James Power Station from 1-7pm, more details nearer to the date. Another piece of good news is DejaVu Vintage is now having a moving out sale at Mandarin Gallery and we have 10% off all pieces from Eighteen Fifty. And I'm sure you will find lovely vintage belts, bags and clothes to match too! Now this is what I call a box of diamonds. It's a shame such beautiful, intricate pieces aren't made anymore. When I look at the brilliance in details in front of me, questions and pictures come to mind... who made them, what happened to the company, who were the ladies that bought them... I've always had the imagery of a glamorous 1920s lady decked out in a beaded flapper dress, long satin gloves, fur lined coat, a gorgeous hat and draped with just the right amount of jewels, oh and of course stilettos. It's a different era and style now, but we all can still be as edgy and elegant as the ladies then. So dress up! Wear that outfit you've always wanted to but never dared to, I say people stare because they admire, and never mind the tropical heat, we're practically air conditioned everywhere. Show us when we see you at St James :) And now it's back to the mountain of papers, got terribly distracted with this post. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Eighteen Fifty jewelry can now be found at Epitome at 14c Kensington Park Rd, Serangoon Gardens ! Thanks to the lovely owners Amanda and Cedric. We are totally in love with the funky bags (including a large tote, very handy when Baby comes!) and gorgeous vintage-inspired indie designer dresses, but really, we're glad to be able to partner with such a happening store. ;)

We're so sorry about the lack of updates; Ade has been swamped with assignments and preps for her exams, and we've both been so busy working our fingers, coming up with new pieces for the shops as well as a new one coming up mid-Nov! Watch out for news on that very soon.

It's been sometime since our last update but fret not! We have exciting news for you, thanks to the lovely and stylish Joanna from Colette, Eighteen Fifty has a collection in store, all of which are one of a kind as always ;) Visit Colette at #01-15, Forum The Shopping Mall,we are in love with their uber glam rhinestone studded clutches and ultra luxe leather bags :)

Onto some slightly unpleasant news, firstly, while we realise that some of our designs are classic and perhaps not completely original, we do try to make an effort to tweak a design and add a little of our own flavour and style. That being said, it's rather sad to find someone copying integral parts of our designs (exactly the same stones, pattern and style) as it shows zero thought and effort in both the design and process, not to mention the lack of respect and individuality. So to the copycat(s), please develop your own style if you can.
Secondly, a few of our designs have been stolen at one of our stockists, and frankly, it's disappointing to know our hard(heart)work has gone to a unappreciative and dishonest person with light fingers.

Happy Happenings! Celebrated my 21st with a family dinner at Senso (the warm chocolate cake is to die for). Now it's just back to the massive load of lectures staring at me...

We hope you had a fantastic weekend and a good week ahead! Maad was nice time as usual with many familiar and new vendors. We probably spent more time chit chatting with our neighbours than selling! oops.
If we looked a little under weather and collection hasn't been updated, it's partly due to the massive amount of late night packing and getting ready to move house (so stressful!) for myself, not to mention the backlog of lectures... and saving the best for last, Jo is expecting :) She wasn't feeling too well so there was a rather dismal number of pieces at Maad on sunday.

Home sweet home! I had a blast with my church small group in Batam last week, and I'm back, ready to make more pieces for FashBash! I hope all of you had a good break too over the long holiday.
